Helle Gaupe offers more than just good looks. It is also one of the most classic of our mid-size knives and a real work horse, thanks to its well-shaped 108 mm (4,25 inch) blade. A great carving knife for most tasks on your adventures.
Named after the Norwegian name for Lynx, this knife has somewhat the same character. Really beautiful to look at and powerful when it comes to its performance. Gaupe features a classic Scandinavian shape with a small fingerguard, and a handle well shaped by hand for a secure grip for medium size hands.
The curly birch handle has been sanded to a satin finish and securely fastened to the stick tang blade of triple laminated stainless steel.
The Gaupe knife comes with a traditional sheath of high-quality leather.

Hello my friends at Helle!
I received my first Helle knife today. It’s the Helle gaupe in H3LS steel. I have several nice knives, but this is the sharpest, most beautifully made knife I own. I’ve watched a couple of YouTube videos about your factory, and I have to say that I am utterly fascinated with the your company. The quality, the hours spent on every knife. Amazing!
Needless to say, I will be adding more Helle knives to my collection very soon.
Thank you for building some of the best knives in the world!
I have been carrying knives since my father gave me my first sheath knife when I was about six years old. With a classic stacked-leather handle, I was proud to carry it in the mountains. It was my constant companion while in college, even when I attended classes. Well, the Gaupe just replaced it. This knife is a work of art. The curly birch is beautiful as well as practical in it's ever so slightly rough finish. I chose this knife in part because of your proprietary triple laminate steel: I wanted to know where the steel for this knife comes from, and I'm pleased that it's YOUR steel. Balance is excellent, with the weight centered in the handle. The handle fits my medium hands perfectly. The sheath is beautiful, and fits the knife tightly. And the lynx paw cutout is a striking touch: when my girlfriend sees it, she will want one since she is a cat person! I will proudly give Helle knives as gifts. I see mine as worthy of a place on Hrothgar's belt, drawing it to cut a piece of roast ox by the fire in his mead hall. I hope your craftsmen and women are as proud of making this knife as I am of now owning it.
I bought two Gaupes to commemorate a fishing trip this summer in Northern MN with my son. His heritage is partly Scandinavian. I had both knives laser engraved with our last names. The knives are handcrafted beautifully, the engraving on the blade is excellent. I couldn’t be more pleased. Both are razor sharp out of the box. I chose the laminated steel because it is also unique. Not something anyone other knife I’ve seen offers. Helle’s hand craftsmanship and tradition are important to my choice. They are a “cut above” all the manufactured knifes out there. Happy to support and review. Keep up the excellent work.
I have this knife on my belt and was hiking as I normally do. Walking down trails. On my was back I noticed the knife was not there no more. The belt strap was still on my belt loop but no knife case it came apart and fell some were. That a very poor design and it cost me a knife BEAWARE OF THST WHEN YOU BUY THIS KNIFE. POOR CARRY CASE.
Quality!
