The Helle factory is located in the village of Holmedal on the central Norwegian coast, far from any urban hustle and bustle. Making high quality knives has been both a source of livelihood and passion for the Helle family and its craftspeople for over three generations. Since 1932 our focus has been creating beautiful and functional knives built to coexist seamlessly with our outdoor surroundings. One of the strengths of the Helle brand has been our ability to evolve with innovative designs and use of natural materials over the years, producing relevant products for our customers, while still holding onto the aesthetic of our history and surroundings.

At Helle we believe that form matters, and this is an essential aspect of our product development process. We know that the world is evolving, and that people will always have a desire to advance and grow. This is why our product line also evolves, but in a way that stays true to our design ethos and use of natural materials.

Taking a step back to look at the product holistically, knives have been one of the most basic tools since the start of mankind, and a tool that has a clear developmental progression throughout history. In our small corner of the world, handing down our knowledge, maintaining the local traditions of the craft and passing on these skills to the next generation is our contribution to knifemaking and its evolution.



Looking out over the vast fjord landscape from the windows of the Helle factory and letting your eyes flow from one of the many mountains to the water below, and the open ocean to the west gives context to what gives our knives life. This land is our heritage and our inspiration.

Without being hyperbolic, nature is what unites us in what we do, and this is reflected in the products we make. It is, in a way, our classroom and inspiration.
