Sigmund Special

This is a Helle Special version of the Sigmund with a centrepiece consisting of different types of stabilized and colored spalted beech. The spalted beech is rare and contains high-grade patterning. There are several different iterations with different woods as front- and end pieces. Only available in very limited quantities. Comes with either a brown or black leather sheath. Each item is numbered on the spine according to how many were made of its particular iteration. 

About the Sigmund knife

Sigmund is in many ways a unique, historic Helle knife created for the 2012 anniversary and it has quite a story to tell. Designed by two generations of Helle men − blade designed by Sigmund Helle in the 1930’s and its handle by his son Torodd Helle in 2012, thus representing 80 years of tradition.

The Sigmund is a classic all-purpose knife. Its beautifully crafted handle made of  stacked pieced of dark oak mixed with pieces of leather gives the knife personality as a worthy masterpiece. The knives comes with an out-of-the-box popping sharp triple laminated steel blade.

The medium size handle has been hand sanded to a satin finish and offers a medium size grip large enough for medium to large hands. A small but important fingerboard guides for a secure position, even when holding a grip close to the sharp blade.

The Sigmund knife comes with a genuine leather sheath, also out of the ordinary. The use of old tools gives the leather an unique and historic finish.

The Helle Specials are small batches (5-30 knives) of existing Helle models in new & exclusive handle materials and steels. Helle makes one such small batch a quarter, varying both which models we do and what materials we use.
