Sigmund is in many ways a unique, historic Helle knife created for the 2012 anniversary and it has quite a story to tell. Designed by two generations of Helle men − blade designed by Sigmund Helle in the 1930’s and its handle by his son Torodd Helle in 2012, thus representing 80 years of tradition.

The Sigmund is a classic all-purpose knife. Its beautifully crafted handle made of  stacked pieced of dark oak mixed with pieces of leather gives the knife personality as a worthy masterpiece. The knives comes with an out-of-the-box popping sharp triple laminated steel blade.

The medium size handle has been hand sanded to a satin finish and offers a medium size grip large enough for medium to large hands. A small but important fingerboard guides for a secure position, even when holding a grip close to the sharp blade.

The Sigmund knife comes with a genuine leather sheath, also out of the ordinary. The use of old tools gives the leather an unique and historic finish.

World-Class Craftsmanship

Received the Sigmund knife with beech wood, dark oak and leather stacked handle, and the Hellé triple laminated steel blade, as a birthday gift from my wife. What can I say but everything from the packaging, to seeing it in the beautifully embossed or perhaps carved leather sheathe that smells like quality leather, and pulling the knife out to reveal its exquisitely sharp and handsome appearance.. To holding it in my hand and realizing the perfectly crafted all-round grip, and the lightweight yet substantial overall feel of the knife.. Just absolutely everything you could want from a top of the mark, world class, doesn't really get any better, Bush-craft, survival, daily companion, hand-crafted with care and attention to detail, type of knife... I mean you can't go wrong with a Hellé knife. I love that the handle and blade are identical lengths at 107cm each, and living in Alaska I love the Moose, mountain/wilderness scene embossed on the sheathe. Absolutely makes you feel like you have one of the best knives in the world. If you have the funds and you're interested, or have wanted one for a while. Just order it and you'll be beyond pleased. For the curious person who questions everything like I do, yes the knife is scary sharp out of the box. Sliced through a thick piece of paper like warm butter. This is an heirloom quality knife that I'm sure can take the woes of daily use and still stand the test of time. Provided that you do put care and attention to detail into every task you use it for. This is a knife I will one day pass on to my son though I'll probably get him his own one day. Also received the large and small sharpening stones which are of top quality and perfectly sized, with the large to remain at home and the small to take with you on your ventures and wanderings. Outstanding, exceptional quality. You won't be disappointed.

Original?

I believe that the knife that I have might be an original on account the fact the knife I have looks just like this one except for the top part looks like bone or ivory...
